Our friend, Brother Smoot, makes an appearance on the most recent episode of Mormon Perspectives Podcast to discuss affinities between Mormon doctrine and the ancient belief in a divine council of gods.

I haven't had a chance to listen, but am looking forward to it.

Well, I suppose if one is unable to book David Bokovoy, there is always little-DCP.

Re: Stephen Smoot Gets Around!
Divine council is an idea which reflects human organization. Is there any society anywhere that does not participate in some ways in this idea of the divine? There is variety. In modern Catholicism it is Triune God, angels , saints etc. One could say in that version the authority hierarchy is steeper than in ancient Mesopotamia.
What sort of point is intended to be made by pointing out Mormon thinking has some sort of relationship to that nearly universal human image?
