I wish them good luck with the project. Wonder if holding the exhibition in a liberal Christian church like Riverside would frighten away the TBM crowd? I mean, could they feel comfortable occupying the same space where Martin Luther King Jr, Kofi Annan, Cesar Chavez, Desmond Tutu, Nelson Mandela, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer once spoke?

There's actually some nice pieces there if you bothered to take a look. And why shouldn't there be? Mormons are no less talented than any other folk and very often, in my opinion, far more talented than the many.

We have ex-LDS artists on this very forum. So what's the point besides mockery for no good reason?

More infighting among "Mormon arts" types than in Chinese government.
A lot who are related to a bigwig will be exhibited rather than have their work where it really belongs, bird cage liners.
Censorship will be the working method of jurists who put things together.
Yes, there will be some that is actually art. Too many will be propaganda pieces with some artistic pretension, much as seen in Third Reich art displays.

Skeptical and dismissive? You bet. Have seen how they operate.
BYU is and was full of them. So much so Dept. heads bought, sold, traded and even appropriated fine works from their collection. Later many pieces were claimed to have been moved illegally and demand was made for their return. "Show us a Police Report" was the general reply - and all claims were dropped quickly.

Mormon Arts is the religious equivalent of Military Intelligence.
