Wherefore, it is an abridgment of the record of the people of Nephi, and also of the Lamanites—Written to the Lamanites, who are a remnant of the house of Israel; and also to Jew and Gentile—Written by way of commandment, and also by the spirit of prophecy and of revelation—Written and sealed up, and hid up unto the Lord, that they might not be destroyed—To come forth by the gift and power of God unto the interpretation thereof—Sealed by the hand of Moroni, and hid up unto the Lord, to come forth in due time by way of the Gentile—The interpretation thereof by the gift of God.
An abridgment taken from the Book of Ether also, which is a record of the people of Jared, who were scattered at the time the Lord confounded the language of the people, when they were building a tower to get to heaven—Which is to show unto the remnant of the house of Israel what great things the Lord hath done for their fathers; and that they may know the covenants of the Lord, that they are not cast off forever—And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations—And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God, that ye may be found spotless at the judgment-seat of Christ.
TRANSLATED BY JOSEPH SMITH, Jun.
If the purpose of the Book of Mormon is to convince the Jews Jesus is the Christ, it’s been an epic failure.
Actually the Book of Mormon was written to show that the native Indians were no different than the people coming from Europe. To show that all humans are the same in a deeper sense. That message did not get received.
And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God
What an arrogant statement produced by Joseph Smith. How is the Book of Mormon supposed to convince Jews that Jesus is their promised Messiah? A book written by an American cult leader is supposed to arouse the hearts of the Jews?
Come on. If the Jews are going to be convinced that Jesus is the Christ they can get that by reading the NEW TESTAMENT. After all, that IS the authentic record concerning Christ and there is no need to apply faith or ask God if it's really an ancient record. But the Book of Mormon is nothing but a novel written by Joseph Smith making claims to be ancient but is full of holes.
Same goes for the Gentiles. If they want to think that Jesus is the Christ all they need to do is read the New Testament. You don't need the Book of Mormon to believe in Jesus Christ. The pope believes in Jesus Christ and he doesn't give squat about the Book of Mormon. Billions of people believe in Jesus Christ and don't give one hoot about the Book of Mormon!
The Book of Mormon has been around for over 187 years and what does it have to show for the convincing of the Jews?

Yep, this is a dismal failure. 187 years and all they have is 258 members of the church who claim to believe that Jesus is the Christ BECAUSE of the Book of Mormon.
In reality, the Book of Mormon was written to convince the world that Joseph Smith was a prophet. 2nd Nephi chapter 3 points this out quite convincingly It is still being used most for that particular purpose . As for me, I'm not convinced yet. But I could be wrong.
Ya see, there just weren't enough Lamanite women who cared about being white and delightsome and abandoning their cultures to become polygamous wives of Joseph Smith's followers. The blood's on their collective hands.

Wow, just wow.
How many of those are even Jew and not just BYU employees?
On a side note, I did baptize a Jew on my mission upstate New York. He loved that Joe was a mason and had an epic porn collection on VHS that would give Pornhub a run for their money.
