Why would she do this if she has a pending case?

I know right!

She's one tough cookie. She can handle herself. If only she had kneed Joseph Bishop in the balls down in that basement.

Well I think the thing to remember here is that when you are very young and vulnerable, abuse such as she encountered catches a young person off guard and they simply don't know how to respond particularly when it involves abuse of power and authority.

Over time, as we gain experience and come to realize just what happened and how unfairly we were treated, we have maybe two choices. Hide yourself away in fear and try to push it aside or rise up.

Looks to me as though McKenna has chosen to rise up.

Consig--

What's the legal ramifications of assault? It's a pretty minor assault, but they shouldn't've laid hands on her.

I imagine McKenna will get the Kirton McConkie letter banning her from church property.

I agree.

I'm curious though. Suppose that it was you, Jersey Girl, a young missionary down in that basement. What would you have done? How would you have reacted and what would have been the outcome?

Sort of traveling along the messages that the church sends it's youth and trying to see it from McKenna's perspective.

I'm damaged, I'm impure, wait...I didn't choose this. He chose if for me. HE is impure. HE did the damage.

And then one day she stands up in his Ward building and bears her testimony against him.

I might have not chosen the same action, but who knows what I might have chosen? Who knows what any of us would have done in her circumstances?

We weren't in that room at the MTC. We haven't lived her truth or her life. We don't live in her head right now.

Personally, I support her right to speak her truth wherever she chooses to do so. I hope one day that I might be able to hear it from her own mouth one:one and Lord willing, I just might get the chance.
