QuitMormon.org Update
https://www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/comments/a38dmi/quitmormoncom_updates/?st=JPATXUV3&sh=33154792
Here’s the highlights.
The church lawyers are claiming fraud but refuse to show the evidence.
Quitmormon will now require ID verification to process your resignation in response to fraud allegations.
Quitmormon has processed nearly 50,000 resignations.
Quitmormon is considering a class action lawsuit against the church for not removing all membership records of those seeking resignation particularly for child of record.
All of this they do as a free service. It’s really amazing in my opinion.

Re: QuitMormon.org Update
I wonder why Kirton McConkie is not disclosing what kind of evidence they have. Perhaps they submitted a false record to Quitmormon, and when it showed up at the Membership Processing they said: Ha!
But then they aren’t actually permitted to commit fraud to show fraud.
I've been holding off my resignation until I was certain that my unbaptized, underage kids would also be erased from the local roles (but alas still remain in the halls of Intellectual Reserve until Ragnarok)
Perhaps we are one step closer.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

What I find most telling and interesting about this is the Church and Kirton McConkie wouldn't do anything about this if they weren't seeing an effect. It was said some time ago by Elder Cook, I believe, that the number of resignations haven't changed much and are a teeny tiny portion of the whole, so it's not big deal. Perhaps they are feeling more than that.

Re: QuitMormon.org Update
That really sad thing about resigning is that, like in the case of my MIL, regardless of how explicit you are about not having your proxy work done after you die, for most of us, someone one will rebaptize you anyways after you are dead. With her dying breath my MIL asked her daughters not to have her proxy work and especially not seal her to her ex-husband. Within two month of her death they had done her work and sealed her to a man she hated.
It would be nice if there was some way to legally prevent that from happening.
By the way, anyone know the how long it has taken for QuitMormon to get to the 50,000 number? I mean, that is starting to be an impressive number on its own, one that should attract some attention from SLC. If membership is increasing by 300,000 a year, those resignations numbers are significant, especially because they do not represent those that just walk away.

Re: QuitMormon.org Update
From what I understand, the church won't process more than 395 resignations per week. There are over 7,000 resignations that have been submitted by QuitMormon.org that are in the hands of the church that have yet to be process. The church is definitely slowing down the process for those who have requested resignation.

Re: QuitMormon.org Update
Admittedly I can side with the Church if the Church has found that many of the petitioned membership folks who are getting sent by quitmormon.org to resign aren't really asking to resign. That'd cause a big problem for them. They would resign some people who have no desire to resign, if that were the case. I wouldn't doubt some people out there are submitting names of people for funsies. It sounds like the Church could be concerned that my great aunt Delores get's submitted because her great grand kid is having fun submitting her.

This gives me an idea.
Wouldn't be interesting to create a website labeled "RejectMyProxyWork.com" to which people could submit names of their ancestors, which could then be forwarded to the church with a request to remove these names from their proxy records?
"Dear LDS Church,
My great great great grandfather George Jackson appeared to me in a dream last night and asked that you remove his name from any of your records. I am attaching his geneological records to assist you in this important undertaking. Please process his request at your earliest convenience.
Sincerely
April Jackson White"

My ancestors appeared to me too and demanded that I remove them from this made up nonsense, immediately. They tell me that Ole Joe is required to greet all the recent dead Mormons to apologize for what he created down here. Because a lot don't believe that the church was invented, even though so many witnesses, proof, and actually hearing it from Ole Joe's mouth, it is required by the future world counsel to renounce Mormonism as part of the repentance process up there. It's a long process because the cultish cognitive dissonance generated by Mormonism remains for some time after death. People just don't want to believe that they wasted their lives. So, my ancestors say that petitioning to remove names greatly helps in this process of coming to grips with reality. We should invite all to participate .....
