SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4NEWS) Sister missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints now have the option to wear dress slacks. The change takes effect immediately and covers all 407 missions around the world.
The adjustment to dress standards was approved by the First Presidency and is primarily motivated by safety concerns, said Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and chairman of the Missionary Executive Council.
“Adjustment to the missionary dress and grooming standards have changed over time since the beginning of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in 1830 and will continue to do so in the future,” said Elder Uchtdorf. “As we adapt these standards, we always carefully consider the dignity of the missionary calling to represent Jesus Christ, the safety, security, and health of our beloved missionaries, and the cultural sensitivities of the places where they serve.”
Sister Bonnie H. Cordon, Young Women general president and a member of the Missionary Executive Council, elaborated on the changes for sister missionaries.
“There are a lot of vector-borne diseases because of mosquitoes and ticks and fleas,” said Sister Cordon. “This helps the sisters to prevent any of those bites or at least minimizes them.”
“This is truly optional,” said Sister Cordon. “The sisters can wear dresses, they can wear slacks, whatever will help them in their service as they’re out amongst the people.”
Sister missionaries will continue to wear skirts and dresses when attending the temple and during Sunday worship services, mission leadership and zone conferences, and baptismal services.
I guess mosquitos, ticks and fleas don't attend the temple and don't work on Sundays...
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')
Cool. They are still making missionaries live in terrible conditions with infested apartments and substandard health care at the discretion of the MP’s wife.
But it’s about health I guess.
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.
So if they wish to put their health at risk by wearing a dress, that's okay with PreZ Newsroom?
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.
LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

That's right because the sisters that opt to remain faithful to the skirt prove they are more righteous than the low class sisters who wear pants. Wearing the dress is a sign of faithfulness and ultra righteousness to the cause. Heavenly Father who sits atop his throne in heaven (having a crack and a gas relieving hole) looks down and smiles upon his daughters who wear dresses but looks upon the other daughters as taking the cheap way out. Heavenly Father likes girls that wear dresses, it turns him on. Heavenly Father is especially fond of the 19 year old girls. More for his harem in the hereafter, I suppose.

Yeah but they don't give a rock solid damn about the safety, security and health of youth going into Worthiness...oh never the hell mind.

I imagine the Sisters on the Siberian Western Mission will be glad for both the wool pants and down garments, just not at Church functions where blue-tinged legs are both expected and required. After all, the Church needs to maintain some symbolic standards of feminine availability at these events.
