What would be the impact for the church were the office of the president of the corporation sole to be passed to a non-US citizen? I imagine that the handling of assets could adopt a very different pattern if the president's personal perspective was less Amero-centric.
With the membership demographics changing, I imagine that, in time, more non-US leadership will become inevitable.
Dieter Uchdorf, by the way, is a US citizen. It would be interesting to know how that came to be, and I wonder if it would behoove the church to encourage naturalization of upper-echelon leaders especially when they are being prepared for apostleship.
A Non-US President of the Corporation Sole?

It seems to me foreign born (for lack fo a better term) leaders are chosen precisely on the basis of their embracing americana. They seem to become as much the purveyors of americanism as any of the american borns. Perhaps in time that'll change and shift some. It feels like a long way down the road though.
I like Uchtdorf on the basis of it seems the top leaders now don't really like him. I like to imagine Oaks and Nelson rolling their eyes as they dismiss any contribution he makes in their special meetings.

Imagine an American-loving non-American who owns the church. What happens when he wants to do in his country what the church does in the states? Businesses, farms, a new Beehive state, for example. Couldn't this represent a huge upheaval of financial stability? Which is one reason why in my opinion the church will resist non-US apostles as long as it can. Which can be practically forever, causing leadership quality to suffer if the trends continue, because a shrinking pool of American choices means lower quality picks when restricted to the small pool.

Well, I mean, after all, we all have to grasp the fact that Jesus is an American, so there is that...
