Cry Me A River
When responding to a question about the meaning of life and God, Michio Kaku surprised his interviewer when he revealed that most top physicists do believe in a God because of how the universe is designed. Ours is a universe of order, beauty, elegance and simplicity.
He explained the universe didn’t have to be this way — it could have been ugly and chaotic. In short, the order we see in the universe is evidence of a Creator.
“I have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence,” the physicist said to Science World Report.
“Believe me, everything that we call chance today won’t make sense anymore. To me it is clear that we exist in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance.”

As has been posted here in the past, 93 percent of the members of the National Academy of Sciences, the most elite scientific organization in the United States, do not believe in God.

Re: Cry Me A River
NL, if it were ugly and chaotic, then that could just as easily be interpreted as evidence of a Creator, if that served our egos. Otherwise, why would it be chaotic when a natural order should logically prevail?
Easy to flip that, isn’t it? ; )

Michio Kaku:
“There is a website that quoted me incorrectly. That’s one of the drawbacks of being in a public sphere: sometimes you get quoted incorrectly. And the reference I saw said that I said that you can prove the existence of God. My point of view is different. My own point of view is that you can neither prove nor disprove the existence of God.
Science is based on what is testable, reproducible, and falsifiable. That’s called science. However, there are certain things that are not testable, not reproducible, and not falsifiable. And that would include the existence of God.”
By the way, this happened about three years ago.

Most of those are not the top tier of scientists. Top tier would be those who do not need to bow and scrape.

Hawkings and Krauss.
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')

NL,
Doesn't appear that you read for comprehension. The NAS is comprised of some 2,000 'top tier' scientists, or approximately 0.1% of scientists in the US. Only about 3% of NAS members report belief in God. In other words, the more one achieves in science, the less religious belief one is likely to be burdened with.
On a person note, time formerly wasted on church activity and funds formerly contributed to LDS Church real estate investments and million dollar non-recourse loans to Church executives, turned out to be of great benefit when directed toward science and engineering.

NL should be using his mighty apocalprophet powers to denuclearize North Korea the way he did Seven Mile Island or whatever. Or he can come here and show his ignorance of atheism and science for the 10,000th time.
