It there a place for religion?
It there a place for religion?
Is there a place for religion? If so, what should religion do for mankind?
It seems some religions are dying. Many here believe Mormonism is dying and Christianity as well. Some religions seem to be growing such as Islam.
What should be the purpose of Religion? Is there any good that comes from faith? Surely there can be a lot of evil that comes from faith, you only need to look at Islamic Zealots for proof of that. But then one man's evil is another man's righteousness. How are you to know?
I believe the old religions served mankind well and Christianity allowed humanity to develop our modern society but now it's time has ended and a new religion needs to take mankind into the future. Globalist (IMHO) believe that Islam will give them that religion which will allow them to control the world. It seems to me they are working hard to establish a one world government based on the Islamic model. I fear they will be successful. And if so it will mean the enslavement of the masses. Submit or Die.
If I were to design a religion it would be based on the principles of the US Constitution. If only... So, if you designed a religion what would be the principles that you would base it on?

Aim at at nothing and you're sure to hit it.

A way to live or a why to live? Usually people begin with one and try to add the other but they seem to be incompatible questions or something.

There is certainly a place for religion. It is in the unenlightened areas of the world. Where life is so difficult and dire, religion can give them hope that they will exist in an easier way later.

The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." There is a place for ethics and morality. There is no place for an institution that claims that you need their intercession to commune with God.

The place for religion is the midden heap. It has become an anchor keeping mankind from progressing, wasting time, energy and effort on eternal rewards instead of facing and addressing real problems, some of which religion is one of the root causes thereof. Plenty of civilization did fine without the Abrahamic religions, China. Western centric much?

Unenlightened? Who is unenlightened? Another Western centric cultural superiorist. Those who are moral and ethical but don't know Jesus, or the Christian right climate change denier? You want to peddle the false hope of Christian afterlife instead of working to improve their current situation. Like Mormon works for the dead. Lets members feel like they are doing good, without actually doing anything meaningful, like sending hopes and prayers to hurricane victims instead of cash.

Easy there, Buckwheat. Why do you identify me as Western? People in the Avenues in SLC that have life difficult and dire need hope.

The Gods of Egypt, Rome, Germania, Greece, and Mesopotamia all had their shot. They couldn’t make it stick, even with huge world conquering empires and armies.
No reason to think modern religions don’t have an expiry date.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

HG,
I am not the one utilizing the loaded term "unenlightened".
Who are these unenlightened you are referring to, what enlightenment to they need?

Those that have always gone through life to this point, "by the numbers."
