After looking at several images, I think the “cross” is an artifact of lighting. The doors have two horizontal bars, one above the other, and what I think is a CAD image is lit in a way that highlights the top bar.

We put a cross on the door so the Vatican and Italian government would approve our temple. Now you see it, now you don't! We apostles are good at showing what we want to be seen and how and when we want it to be seen.

I'm sure the pope would be disappointed to learn that the cross didn't make it on the door -- door jams don't cut it.

I doubt very much that the Mormon temple in Rome will be met with much success. It will be interesting to read the Dedicatory Prayer and see how those prophecies fail. eventually bad things are going to happen to this temple. It's in the worst spot attempting to usurp a major religion in its own nest. I got a strange feeling this temple will be destroyed before too long.

You gone blind? I see a cross as plain as day.

Not like this, you don't. Now that's a cross! Its design is intentional and distinct -- yet subtle. Isn't that right, Mike Huckabee?

So, that's a low res screen grab from a video. It's very blurry below the top horizontal bar. You can't tell wether the additional horizontal bars that appear on the actual doors are there or not. You also don't have two similarly lit examples to compare. Looks to me like pareidolia.
