How about Mormon edition Ouija Boards?

Post by _SuperDell »

With Big Nellie coming out with more and more crazy crap each week - why not start making Mormon Edition Ouija Boards?

A way to honor the name while providing one and all a personal tool to revelation? The modern replacement for the Magic Peepstone and hat? The perfect gift for the believing relative or Stake President this year.

You could include a personal endorsement from Bruce R McConkie for the Mormon Ouija boards.

Forget everything that I have said, or what President Brigham Young or President George Q. Cannon or whoever has said in days past that is contrary to use of Ouija boards. We spoke with a limited understanding and without the light and knowledge that now has come into the world through Ouija boards.
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

What’s the difference between a Ouija Board and a Seer Stone? Both are simply devices used to facilitate communications from spiritual beings.
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')

In any context but Mormonism, Big Nellie's "crazy crap" is for the most part progressive. (His name-of-the-church hangup notwithstanding.) Only in the Mormon context are most of Big Nellie's changes "crazy crap".
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge."
