What is "what happens when drug-dealers take up the cause of literacy?" I'll take 'Gonzo Social Engineering' for $200, please, Alex.

 Actually, that explains a lot. I was already hooked so any books I wanted beyond what my Mom already had came from the library. My brother got to keep his shiny new collection.

Heh. I was far too into Tolkien to have the presence of mind to pretend to hate books, but I might've given it a shot if I'd known I could expand my library for free. (OTOH, if it had worked I probably would have shot myself in the foot trying to plumb the depths of this newfound principle -- say, by going on to pretend to hate my allowance and Christmas presents.)

A wide range of good fiction is never a bad choice. Good for you, MG.

How very Freudian...
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')
