He was in a divorce mediation and it was nearing the completion, when suddenly the soon to be ex-Wife Morgbot stood up on the Conference room table and pointing down at her soon to be ex-Husband stated emphatically that SHE WOULD NEVER give him a Temple divorce so he could Marry that SLUT who had destroyed their marriage. And that he might as well get use to the FACT that he was her's for ETERNITY.

My friend asked me latter, WHAT THE HELL? After explaining Morbot doctrine, he asked, "why the Hell would she want to be married to him for eternity? He was the one who broke up the marriage and didn't feel any obligation to her beyond his legal requirements."

Holy hell that's insanity... but I bet a lot of people say things like that out of spite.

The irony, of course, is that a man will have a much easier time getting a temple sealing canceled than a woman would. It's really stupid how much work and energy we put into something that isn't even real.

Current LDS teachings have relegated those promises to the second anointing. Considering the sealing traditions originate out of polygamy and the spiritual promises associated with the temple followed, I suppose it's always been a case of what's expedient to the times trumping what was understood or believed in the past.

Setting aside we are never going to find out with 100% certainty because the eternal void that follows life won't provide any answers, unless Nelson gets a midnight message changing things we have to read it as only applying to folks like Hans Mattsson but not me and, unless you're hiding your identify very well, not you.
