 kiwi needs to learn the definition of opinion. And libel. And for that matter, documentation, proof, argument, and logic.

Also what's with calling me quote unquote Lemmie? Is that one of those mopologist things that's supposed to mean something? It just comes across silly and amateur to me. It's just one more thing that could use some peer review, if for no other reason than to bring posters into the 21st century.

Midgley paused briefly, but the attacks are back. Notice this is 5 specific attacks in less than 20 minutes, always rudely addressing him is the 3rd person. What an embarrassment for Peterson's blog:
Louis Midgley > gemli • 3 minutes ago

Just like he has master both science in general and some specific science, without publishing a single essay. That is how it is when one knows all the answers before one even know a single question. As I have indicated, I feel sorrow for gemli.
Louis Midgley > DanielPeterson • 3 minutes ago

It seems that gemli's command of the plausible alternative explanation is as weak as his command of both history and science. I feel sorry for gemli. I pity those who insist on painting themselves into corners, and have to resort to a silly quip in an effort to avoid the problem they have created for themselves.
Louis Midgley > gemli • 10 minutes ago

...I have paid the price to do just that. Poor gemli has not lifted a finger except to type still another bit of his dogmatic religion.

Louis Midgley > gemli • 13 minutes ago

...My point is that poor gemli simply has made exactly no effort to accomplish much of anything of genuine worth. Instead, he seem disinterested in anything but posting thousands of time the essentially the few elements of his dogmatic religion.

Louis Midgley > DanielPeterson • 20 minutes ago

Poor gemli does not see how odd his remarks are to Latter-day Saints.

...Poor gemli seems to think that he knows everything about anything worth knowing, both in the intellectual world, including the Book of Mormon without giving it and the vast literature on is even a casual glance. He brushes aside the Book of Mormon without even glancing at its cover. This mindless dogmatism is matched by his indifference to such things as actually seeing the Vasa in Stockholm or reading about it. Or using the Tube to get to know London. One who is not at all interested in actually visiting different places in the world, or reading about what is out there, can make all kinds of bald assertions about things about which he knows very little if not exactly nothing.

I feel sorry for gemli. This is why I describe him as poor gemli.

Bolding by me, to note how utterly despicable a comment that is to make about a commenter online, when he does not know much about this person's life at all, except that he is not lds and he disagrees with many of Midgley's points. (And of course, any minor information gemli has given is mocked and derided endlessly and irrelevantly by Midgley.)

Midgley has indicated before that he seems to believe that being LDS is the dividing point between worth and worthlessness, in his mind, of fellow human beings. That's a sad legacy for the church in which I was raised.

And this is why gemli is the master:
Gemli > Louis Midgley • 12 minutes ago

Lou, please keep posting. Your insecure, defensive tirades are a joy to read!

Louis Midgley > gemli • 5 minutes ago

I am here to please even people who accuse me of "insecure, defensive tirades" even when they post rubbish.

gemli > Louis Midgley • 3 minutes ago

You're doing a great job. Keep up the good work!

Midge's insults are gutting boring, but gemli is refreshingly creative in his responses. Enjoy:
gemli > Louis Midgley • 10 minutes ago

You might benefit from a silly quip or two every now and then. I suspect you're projecting certain disappointments and negative feelings onto me, but I'm OK with that. Flail away!

And
gemli > Louis Midgley • 3 minutes ago

If you flail the way you do without even knowing how, you are definitely a prodigy.
and
gemli > Louis Midgley • 44 minutes ago • edited

Regarding the Book of Mormon, I most certainly have glanced at the cover.

I accept your accusation of my mindless dogmatism. After all, you're the expert.
and
gemli > Louis Midgley • 3 minutes ago

If you're looking for my thesis under the name "gemli," you're probably not going to find it. You do realize, I hope, that "gemli" is not my real name...?

Good grief. Midgley has a filthy mouth, and DCP pretends it's "intrinsically" acceptable:

Brad Anderson, UT > Louis Midgley • an hour ago • edited

Lois:” There are people who can't seem to spit or swallow when it comes to the Church of Jesus Christ.”

Lois, could you please clean up your language? There are many other descriptors that aren’t nearly as pornographic. Just a thought.

--
DanielPeterson Mod > Brad Anderson, UT • 30 minutes ago

There's nothing pornographic about either spitting or swallowing, BAUT.

--
Brad Anderson, UT > DanielPeterson • 19 minutes ago

DP: “There is nothing pornographic about spitting or swallowing.”

If you truly believe that then be my guest to google “spitting or swallowing.”

I’m sure nothing inappropriate will pop up. Good luck!

I'm quite well aware of what you have in mind, but there is nothing intrinsically pornographic about spitting and swallowing.

Not in my world, anyway.

I suggest that you not try too hard to make this an issue.

DP, I think we all know what Lois Midgley meant, and I for one think he can use more appropriate and faith promoting language.

To each his own, I guess. Enjoy the rest of your evening DP.

I doubt very much that Dr. Louis Midgley -- please note the proper spelling of his first name -- had in mind anything remotely like the pornographic image that unfortunately sprang so insistently to yours.

I've known him well for decades.

So what did Midgley have in mind then, DCP? Please, enlighten us.

It looks like a faithful member who uses his in real life name, Brad Anderson of Utah, has been banned permanently from Sic Et Non. He was a model of civil dialogue -- a real example to everyone who posts at Sic Et Non. No doubt the break Midgley took from demeaning Gemli as a person was due to Anderson's loving suggestions to follow the Savior. He's a guy who made a difference. We'll miss you, Brad.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

I saw that.

I suspect that he's not as familiar with the vocabulary of contemporary pornography as you are.

Incidentally, I note your double use of my initials. I hope that you enjoyed your little joke, because, as it turns out, it occurs in your last comment on my blog.

I don't tolerate obscenity here.

And... back to Google search for me. Malkie warned me not to search the double initial thing, but online Mormonism is clearly not for the faint of heart. Peterson got the pornographic reference, Midgley made the pornographic reference, but poor Brad got booted for objecting to the pornographic reference. This is not the Mormon world I grew up in. Wish me luck!

Madre de Dios.

Stephen Smoot, Louis Midgley, and Daniel Peterson have now introduced me to the most pornographic language I have EVER in my life heard.

The residual effects of the Mormon Priesthood. The Bronx is a shimmering Garden of Well-spoken Loveliness compared to these guys.
