The Book of Abraham was NOT translated from Egyptian papyrus. Nothing was translated from the papyrus! The whole work in itself was a fraudulent scheme devised by Joseph Smith to deceive Mormons in Kirtland. He made the whole thing up and did NOT translate a single Egyptian character or word. The word translate cannot be attributed to Joseph Smith's proven fraud. He did NOT translate Egyptian into English. What he did to the Egyptian papyrus was atrocious and immoral.
It's a handy dandy reference and a great stroll down memory lane.
Did you know:
"The west room on the top floor of the Kirtland Temple was set aside as a translation room, and by August 1836, the papyri had been transferred there."
Backside of the mounted Joseph Smith Papyri, not to scale. Paper on which it was mounted included the Kirtland Temple and map of northern Ohio. wrote:
To hold water, Joseph must be portrayed as an inspired fool.
Would Joseph NOT excommunicate any one of us for claiming that?
Of course, this serves the remaining narrative just fine. A foolish uneducated boy is far better than a brilliant storyteller.
Oliver Cowdery wanted Smith to provide a final detailed account for how the Book of Mormon was translated but Smith refused, choosing to only say it was done through the gift and power of God.
I think Smith would be just fine with all this.

President Russell NelSatan wrote:Listen up you apostates. Elder Holland told you that what got translated got translated -- end of story! There's nothing more to discuss. The writing in Figure 8 of Facsimile No. 3 is sacred and had only in the holy temple. We will not discuss it with you or before the world.

This.
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." Isaac Asimov
Osiris Hor's new, temple name is "Shulem". There, that's the best Mormon explanation.

O Osiris, the Eternal King, we ask thee, in the name of thy Son, Horus, to bless and sanctify this Facsimile to the souls of all those who read it, that they may do it in remembrance of the name of the king, which was given them in the Facsimile . . . .
