Nice attempt at derail.

It's even more wonderful that people are leaving the church by the thousands. Lots of wonderful folks that weren't retained that you will never acknowledge because of your own insecurities. Keep that pole dance going.

I'm willing to let things sit as they are. I felt that it was worth pointing out the link and the fact that amazing people of faith and experience can be found within the church. That's all. I don't think that DCP would disagree.

I'm so glad that you and DCP found eachother. You belong together. And you can always be counted on to provide inanities and links to FairMormon. DCP can always be counted on to pretend that he's a world scholar and that Mormons are not laughed at by academics everywhere.

There are some great Mormons. Unfortunately they have little influence on the leadership and that's how the racism and sexism and general ignorance became so entrenched.

There are 16 million Mormons. In a pool of 16 million anything, I think basic stats says (sorry Lemmie, hope I'm not reaching beyond my grasp here) that there will be some good people and bad people. There are great, self-actualized, successful people within a pool of 16 million of [fill in the blank]. How could one maintain the failure of communism with so many great Russian chess players? On the grounds of DCP, we should all convert to Judaism, as Israel can actually boast of over-representation in science achievement (Nobel Prize winners etc). They should be baptizing Mormons; not the other way around.

In the social Darwinist world of certain apologists, achievement is the premiere benchmark. Think of the great totalitarian and oppressive regimes out there: what is a key argument that all of these institutions use to justify and evangelize themselves? "Look at our great athletes and scientists!"

This is a terrible way to justify a religion or society, but for apologists who can't win an argument on its own terms, resorting to the nice cars of their up-line is all they've got.

There's this Jewish atheist who Analytics and Billy Shears both quote all the time, I can't remember his name. But anyway, one of the things Analytics pointed out from his material, is that a secular libertarian society goes out of it's way to make room for the individual -- all individuals, if possible. In Social Darwinist terms, among many others, this is the very definition of waste. The true test is how those on the margins of societies are treated and are able to integrate.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.

LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.

 Your stats are fine, although I feel compelled to note that it’s highly likely that a significant number of the 16 million, in this particular case, are good and bad dead people.

I don't know about that. Dr. Inouye's address to the Maxwell Institute will not go unwatched by the powers that be. If you have viewed her address at this point, you will notice that she was rather direct as she acknowledged the messiness inherent in any social institution, including the church. I think that people that speak their truth, such as Dr. Inouye, who have influence in power circles within the church system are having great impact in dislodging/rooting out vestiges of racism and sexism within the church. As for "general ignorance", this is becoming less of a reality each day.

You seem to be living in the past.

And you won't acknowledge the past, therefore you won't understand the present or the future. But it isn't necessary for your salvation. Just pray, pay, obey and, if you're in power, prey.

You're struggling there a bit with a reasonable response Mak.
