Kwaku El - the Young/Dumb state of Mormon apologetics

Elder Kevin Pearson spoke at FairMormon a couple of years ago and called for "independent voices" to step up and defend the Church. It's a plausible deniability thingo. The Church should be more careful what they wish for.

Kwaku El is a hip next generation Mormon apologist who appears in dozens of youtube clips at Saints Unscripted and elsewhere. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2LBmY ... ZC14i_YkIg

When he's not carefully steering impressionable young Mormons away from dangerous historical information that challenges the things they were taught at Church, Kwaku likes to organise dance parties via his Young/Dumb organisation (I'm not making this up).

In the middle of the pandemic, Kwaku El organised a dance party in defiance of coronavirus health guidelines. And if that wasn't dumb enough, Kwaku posted video of the Young/Dumb dance party online. The video is wall to wall porn shoulders and even includes a touch of dry humping.

What a sad indictment on the state of Mormon apologetics.

Holy crap!!! OMG. I thought that connecting Kwaku with this was a joke. I didn't know HE ACTUALLY THREW THE PARTY!!!

That is off the charts irresponsible. “F” that guy. Seriously.

Quacko-duck is a loose canon and a liability for the Church. I hope he continues to spread his influence in Mormondom.

Way to go QUACKO!

Just look at some of his tweets on Twitter:

I just don't know how anyone could in good conscience hold a party that would almost be guaranteed to lead to suffering and death. What in the hell were you thinking, Kwaku?

Maybe Kwaku was sure wearing garments would protect him and the others endowed that went to the soiree--and to hell with those who aren't.

The fact that the tread title includes the phrase" state of Mormon apologetics" divided my mind upon two subjects. First it was dumb and very young to decide to have a party now with no social distancing. Perhaps Kwaku's ego and enthusiasm is ahead of his good sense. It appears there are young folks who agreed with his desire and encouraged his bad decision.

2 I watched the video and did not see porn shoulders or dry humping. I wonder what sort or religious righteousness sees those, particularly the ickey nasty phrase "porn shoulders". I have never been to BYU but I have heard that there are officials there that might be in possession of that form of righteousness and be inclined to remind Kwaku of that puritan dimension of Mormon authority.

3 I have watched some of this fellows utube apologetic efforts. I like his enthusiasm and respect his hope of finding some improvement in Mormonism from significant problems in American religion. I watched a debate with some fanatic conservative Calvinist. Kwaku did well. But one might consider that the Calvinist fellow by talking could convince most anybody, myself included, that Methodist, Catholic, Mormon, Buddist , traditional Native American beliefs etc would all be much better than his views.

4 As an apologist Kwaku sounds a bit naïve in places to the ears of older exMormons who have spent more time on the issues. Even so I could not understand the nasty comments made here about him a year or so ago. I liked his enthusiasm. Besides I believe that apologists can cause people to think and have led some Mormons away from blind trust in authority.

I suspect he has a good conscience, but a little selfishness and a lot of human stupidity helps people to think there is nothing wrong with these kinds of behaviors. A good number of humans can really be quite stupid in certain areas while being intelligent in other areas.

Watch it again. There were several examples of those evil porn shoulders.

Kwaku wrote:“I feel the party was important. I wanted to show that even small business owners can do something. These restrictions have been a financial death sentence for so many, and I’m sick of it,” Young/Dumb co-founder Kwaku El told The Daily Universe, BYU's student newspaper.
I guess Mopologetics empowers even the purest minds to assume they are divinely appointed to steady all arks.

This actually reminds me of what DarthJ said about Millennials and Mormonism. They're leaving in droves because they see no value in the bland pablum the Church offers. I get the feeling Kwaku is trying to move Millennials and Zoomers into a sort of Nu Mormonism where having fun and building connections is the aspect that they can see.
