If you keep links to old posts, you can still use them. Steps to fix old links as follows:

1. Change the URL from mormondiscussions.com to discussmormonism.com.

2. Fix the locator IDs (steps a-d below as needed).

Second Amendment. ?f=1 designates a forum ID. Remove this from the new link.

2b. ?t=696 designates a topic ID. Add 100,000 to the old topic ID to get the new one. t=696 becomes t=100696.

2c. ?p=96969 designates a post ID. Add 1,500,000 to the old post ID to get the new one. p=96969 becomes p=1596969.

2d. #p96969 designates a post to zoom on in a topic thread. Like 2c, add 1,500,000 to the old post ID to get the new one. #p96969 becomes #p1596969.

Remove the forum locator (f=1 in this case).
Adjust the topic locator (t=34500 becomes t=134500).
Fix the domain.

New link
http://www.discussmormonism.com/viewtopic.php?t=134500

If anyone would like, I could probably whip up a converter that you can paste an old link into and it'll redirect to the new one.

Being new here, I have no old links myself, so I'll only bother going to the trouble if someone else feels it would be useful.

That would be very welcome and valuable. Quite a number of folks keep links to old threads, so automating an update to those old links would save time and be much appreciated for those with longer collections of now-inaccessible links. Thank you!

Amazing. That may be something worth setting as a sticky on top of all the forums, at least for a while as people return with old links and wonder about how to find those topics or posts.

I am sure there will be hundreds of thousands of people that will be thrilled to once again have access the the epic raccoon/whale threads that once dominated discussion on the old board.

Having this whole thread stickied, maybe up under the rules where the old help thread is, would be great.

You guys are amazing. Wonderful job. The lds discussions community owes you a huge debt of gratitude.
