Kudos for him letting ex-Mormon reddit do most of the heavy lifting with the boilerplate language, the LDS church isn't worth the time to write a letter that Nelson will throw in the trash with the others.

Any evidence that Pres. Nelson throws these in the trash with others? Any at all?

I mean, these resignations are embarassing to the Church, but how are they any different than resignation letters offered by mere mortal members of the Church? Are these thrown in the trash by Pres. Nelson and ignored?

I admit to having resigned from the Church. I directed them to my bishop and stake president. I know they weren't thrown in the trash.

Please tell us what lies behind your decision, if you don't mind. This is the first I've heard that you resigned.

I'm glad you have decided to resign, but I'm sorry you're going through that. I imagine most people don't resign when they're having the best day of their lives, for me it was one of the worst.

I for one will be very keen to see if EPA takes Jeff's public resignation as a call to sell the stock in protest of Jeff's public resignation, or will the EPA managers continue to own stock in a company whose CEO recently excoriated church leaders with a public shaming.

They will sell Traders Desk shares and buy Pepsi Cola.

Money and church affiliation are separate. These guys at EPA seem very competent financially and wouldn't let a little thing like church affiliation or what the company does (polluter, right wing, left wing, communist, shows porn in hotel rooms like Marriott, etc. etc.) get in the way of a good investment. Once marijuana gets more mainstream, EPA might even hold some stocks in these companies. I remember one friend of mine who married into a prominent LDS family gave a talk on how the best corporate money makers are selling sin like tobacco, liquor, etc. I always wondered where he got that idea. Maybe from his father-in-law who was in the finance industry and did business with LDS, Inc.?

Utah native Jeff T. Green, believed to be the wealthiest person to hail from the Beehive State, pledged last month to give away at least 90% of his wealth to philanthropic causes during his life or at his death.

Green, who now lives in Southern California, is the CEO and chairman of The Trade Desk, an advertising technology firm he founded in 2009, and has a net worth pegged at $5 billion.

But the former Latter-day Saint missionary and Brigham Young University graduate won’t be giving any of his money to the state’s largest nonprofit: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Indeed, Green is resigning his membership in the Utah-based faith — along with 11 family members and a friend.

“Although I have deep love for many Mormons and gratitude for many things that have come into my life through Mormonism, I have not considered myself a member for many years, and I’d like to make clear to you and others that I am not a member,” Green writes in a Dec. 20 letter to church President Russell M. Nelson. “While I left the Mormon church more than a decade ago — not believing, attending, or practicing — I have not officially requested the removal of my records, until now.”

While most members “are good people trying to do right, I believe the church is actively and currently doing harm in the world. The church leadership is not honest about its history, its finances, and its advocacy,” he writes. “I believe the Mormon church has hindered global progress in women’s rights, civil rights and racial equality, and LGBTQ+ rights.”

How high up do you think that they are read? Above just a ministerial clerk filing them and causing a letter of confirmation of resignation to be issued?
