Jeff Green's resignation letter
Re: Jeff Green's resignation letter
I think we can borrow a saying from Mormons, hate the sin love the sinner.
Hate the church, love the members. I’m glad to see he expressed love for Mormons, and separated that from his criticism of the institution and it’s leaders.

The Church will quietly disagree on this point.Jeff Green wrote:I plead with you to consider the words of Jesus “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”

It has been years since I’ve read a resignation letter.
Do you think anyone in the church actually reads all the way through these letters?

The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession... The LORD set his love on you and chose you... The LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery. Deut. 7

I’m sure they screen them for anything out of the ordinary, threats, allegations of abuse, things that might cause them legal liability.

So where is yours proof these letters are ash canned.
Re: Jeff Green's resignation letter
Pretty sure the church vigorously agrees, as long as it is the members giving 100% of that with which they have been blessed or ever will be blessed TO the church. You know, for the building up of the kingdom and the establishment of Zion (by which is meant, apparently, the endless accumulation of wealth inside a private-equity fund). I have no doubt that Rusty Donuts Nelson would happily throw those words right back at him:
"Brother Green, it IS more blessed to give than to receive. Imagine the blessings that await you if you keep the commitment you made in the temple to consecrate all of the wealth with which the Lord has blessed you to me, as sole member of the Lord's corporation sole and steward of the church's resources, only a tiny fraction of which go to the upkeep of my private jet, armored limousine, and multi-million-dollar penthouse apartment."

It's a great letter all around. Jeff lays out his concerns succinctly and doesn't waste words going into minute details.
This letter be effective at prompting active members to ask questions and start digging.

Re: Jeff Green's resignation letter
The one aspect of the letter that left me puzzled was the lack of any damning information surrounding the true character of Joseph Smith and his money-digging/treasure hunting schemes, defrauding people and essentially being a con-man of the highest order which is vital in recognizing the fraudulent foundation upon which the 'church' is built. Throw in his creating the B of M by telling an oral story by looking at a peep stone in a tophat, the same stone he admitted to Emma's father that he couldn't see anything with while defrauding people for money, and it becomes quite clear the 'church' is not what it claims to be. Adding that in the letter would have bolstered his credibility and reasoning for walking away instead of simply making it sound like he had axes to grind.
