New Lds Pamphlets says other faiths have prophets and God’s truth

Post by IHAQ »

Latter-day Saints
Latter-day Saints are taught to show respect and love for people of other faiths. In 1978 the Church’s First Presidency declared: “The great religious leaders of the world such as Muhammad … received … God’s light. Moral truths were given to them by God to enlighten whole nations and to bring a higher level of understanding to individuals.”

The pamphlet then goes on to say (subtlety) that Muslins are wrong.
Prophets
Muslims and Latter-day Saints believe in the vital role of prophets to provide guidance from God.

Muslims
Muslims believe that both the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Jesus Christ (AS) are direct descendants of Adam (AS) through Abraham (AS). Muhammad (SAW) was sent by God to reform the Abrahamic religions. The revelations given through the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) reestablished faith in one God and principles of righteous living. Muslims believe in Old and New Testament prophets, and it is a central belief of the faith that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the final prophet.

Latter-day Saints
Latter-day Saints believe that God leads His children through prophets. God called prophets in ancient days, as recorded in the Holy Bible, but the gospel of Jesus Christ was lost centuries ago and had to be restored. For this reason, God called Joseph Smith as a prophet to restore Christ’s church and gospel. Latter-day Saints believe in continuing revelation from God through an unbroken chain of prophets from 1820 to the present day.
The stated purpose of the pamphlet is to help Muslims and Mormons understand each other a bit better. A noble and worthwhile purpose, but it seems to dance around it’s handbag a little when it comes to expressing clearly what Mormons actually believe. For example. The role of women…
Latter-day Saints
The ultimate aim in Latter-day Saint theology is exaltation, or eternal family life with God. Creating strong, loving family relationships is a priority for both women and men (see “The Family: A Proclamation to the World”). Motherhood is a holy calling to nurture God’s children. Women and men work as equal partners in the family, the Church, and the community. Latter-day Saint women are encouraged to gain education and develop their talents. They also belong to Relief Society, a global community of compassion and service.

Women are not equal partners in the church. For that statement to be true women would have to be eligible to hold the priesthood, conduct all the ordinances and preside in meetings and in other councils of the church. Women would need to be able to be called as a bishops etc. The pamphlet is being misleading, it is lying.

Islam is the mother lode of bad ideas, it deserves no respect. What the hell is wrong with LDS leaders.
