Church Feels Members Can't Handle Some information.

The existence of organizations like Mormon Leaks (now defunct) is compelling evidence that the LDS Church doesn't trust members with certain information. On April 6 (interesting date), The Salt Lake Tribune published data showing the Church is one of the largest private landowners in the U.S., with assets totaling multi-billions of dollas. Inasmuch as the accumulation of such wealth is, at least in part, the result of members' contributions, why did a thirf party have to disclose the data to members? Shouldn't the Church have practiced transparency? I wonder how many more mind-blowing surprises await members. The Church insists that members be honest, a policy I wholly support.
Is the Church, however, honest with members? To me, the Tribune's April 6 article makes that a fair question.

If the members have it thrown in their face the Church is a gigantic hundreds billion strong real estate hedge fund that side hustles a bit promising salvation and truth people might stop paying tithing.

The Gospel Topics essays are another example of the Church’s reticence to trust members with awkward and controversial truths about the Church. The Church’s transparency extends only as far as information that has already been put into the public domain by non church sources. The Church will never (has never?) been the first to market on anything controversial about the Church or its history - that should give members pause for thought when they are asked about being honest with their fellow man by an organisation that isn’t even honest with its tithe paying members.

Apologists would argue that makes it even more true.

Apologists would argue any position today if they felt it defended the Church, even if it completely contradicted the defence they made yesterday.

Corporations and governments compartmentalize information and a lot is on a need to know basis. So, it's not surprising that our favorite real estate and investment church corporation is not transparent to its members. Perhaps the Q15 will start calling information subject to "world-wide church security" like the US govt. invokes "national security" on seemingly all information not useful to those that control it.

Equality, the price of a Rameumptom with a food court may be higher than the price without a food court. Though, the ROI may be shorter in years and higher in annual return with the food court.

What I struggle to comprehend is how and why these 85 men atop the church who call themselves 'apostles' or 'special witnesses of Christ' can continue to deceive millions of members who have entrusted their entire lives to them, pretending to speak with God and/or having some kind of special communication channel with heaven if they know the truth about Joseph Smith and the fact that he was nothing but a complete con man and charlatan? Surely they know about the essays since the FP signed off on them in 2014 and so it's hard to imagine none of these formerly wealthy, successful businessmen acting as corporate execs for the wealthiest real estate corporation on the planet know nothing about the ugly truths surrounding Smith, who he really was and the immense frauds he was engaged in, all the way down to the B of M itself for his own benefit and profit, as they continue to receive all sorts of financial perks, favors and rewards managing an ungodly amount of wealth while spouting off to the members to 'stay worthy brothers and sisters'.

Do none of these men have the honesty and integrity to reveal the truth about this so-called 'church'? The truth about Smith and the B of M aside, how can they keep everything secret while claiming to be doing Christ's work and will, even though he himself said 'in secret have I done nothing'??? Are these PSR's just businessmen trying to keep a con going for their own benefit and nothing more? I know Dallin H. Oaks once said that he doesn't believe in the tenets of the church but does believe this is mankind's best attempt to do God's will, but if so, how is secrecy, hundreds of billions in wealth and continuing to perpetuate a fraud contrived by a con man 'doing God's will'??? Surely some of them have to feel a sense of honor and integrity to reveal the ugly truths... or don't they?
