KivinSim, I think there a variety of other possibilities beside that one imaginative idea of an eternity of extreme agony. There could be an eternity of dull boredom. Perhaps in hell people recite how great they were and how misunderstood. I remember a CS Lewis book where hell is a dull place of semiexistence and the people there can take a bus trip to heaven but find it entirely too sharp and abrasive for them to like.
