I admit, I'm being a bit hyperbolic, but Midgley keeps responding to me as if they're speaking to an audience, not to me, and it feels a little strange. If they keep it up, though, I'll just block them and be done with it.

I'm entirely confident, having known Professor Midgley well for most of my adult life and knowing his colorful way of expressing himself -- he is a very vivid personality -- that we're talking about intellectually serious professional criticism. Of course, whether you'll regard it as "legitimate" I cannot begin to say. There are sometimes disagreements on such matters.

It’s a good thing we don’t have to speculate. We have Louis Midgley’s own clear and concise words about how professional and legitimate his criticism is going to be:

Rubbish? Trash her? She deserves a good trashing? If that’s not professional and intellectually serious criticism, then I don’t know what is.

Classic Mormonism in action right here. Trashing gets a new name. Colorful. Horses aren't horses. He was speaking to different audiences. It never ceases to amaze me how Mormons redefine everything to fit their world views. It isn't really an oath of suicide in the temple pre 1990. It is a covenant. And this one is covered up with "years of association" and a vivid personality. Unbelievable.
