I'd definitely be interested to hear the Reverend's take, but my thinking on this is that it was launched thanks to John "Jack" W. Welch--who has always been something of a "puppet master" behind FARMS. Chiasmus was Welch's pet project and he was a major figure in terms of disseminating it as a popular apologetic idea. As to how it got so widespread.... I don't know. Word of mouth?
