First Presidency Announces Annual ‘Tithing Declaration’

Post by Shulem »

Tithing declaration (beginning September 1) replaces tithing settlement, giving local leaders more time to discuss covenants and the divine commandment of tithing

Or in other words, tithing donations have fallen and the Church needs to find news ways to motivate the members in paying and meeting their obligation to the so-called commandment. Hence, start the process earlier and give the members more time to catch up or recommit themselves to pay a full tithe. Make the members feel guilty and remind them they are not temple worthy if they don't pay up.

Stupid Mormons.

Well that's completely obvious. What a subtitle.

Tithing declaration will be primarily a learning experience — especially for children and youth

And the reason they need "more time" is because tithing revenues are dropping and thus an innovative (new) way is needful in order to raise more funds. When it comes to Mormonism it's always about the money and I can only imagine that's why the First Presidency has adopted this new policy. Bishops need "more time" to figure out how to guilt the members and get them to pay a full tithe.

The ancient commandment is outdated! It's as old as the hills. Donations should be optional and given freely from those who choose to donate according to the amount they think is best according to circumstances rather than from what's dictated in ancient times.

Brainwash them NOW so they will be locked into paying when they are adults and make real money!

I promise you the boys in this photo are not excited about turning over their money. The adults are probably discussing what kind refreshments will be provided after the photoshoot. They are being bribed to smile. That's the Mormon way!

is this why they cleared the bishop's schedule recently? so he can put less focus on ministering to the members of his congretation, and more on collecting money from them?

Makes me sick to my stomach.

Thank God for the internet so they can still find out the church is a fraud before giving them hundreds of thousands of their hard earned dollars.

"The change is intended to enhance focus on the principles and blessings of tithing" which means the Church now has more time to focus on
$ollecting money and less time on dispersing it on the needy. Recall how the Church is not a wealthy people and doesn't have money to help poor folks in Africa fetch a pail of clean drinking water. Why? Because they are from the cursed seed of Cain. They were born to suffer.

I get that parents modeling certain behavior would be important to any church. But that occurs at home. Why a formal tithing "declaration" with kids and the bishop at all?

Why not an annual word of wisdom declaration, with the kids?

Or, an annual declaration of pure thoughts and marriage fidelity?

How about an annual "honesty with my fellow men" declaration?

So many things that matter more than giving money to the church, and for which the benefit of reiterating a parental commitment in front of children and ecclesiastical leadership might produce actual long-term transformative value.

Another one of those articles that is practically indistinguishable from something you'd read in the Onion.
