At the recent Ephraim temple groundbreaking the “special people” all held and used specially manufactured and embossed gold shovels
President Russell M. Nelson turns the first soil at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ephraim Utah Temple in Ephraim on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022. With President Nelson are his wife, Sister Wendy Nelson, third from left, Gov. Spencer Cox, left, and his wife Abby Cox, second from left. Second from right is Elder Walter F. González, General Authority Seventy, and his wife, Zulma González, right.

This seems similar to the signing of a Presidential decree where President uses numerous pens for the occasion so all present can receive a special memento pen that was only used for signing that decree. So how does one qualify to get your hands on such a souvenir gold shovel? Can mere members buy one from a souvenir stand, along with a T-Shirt or bumper sticker? Why does there need to be multiple people and multiple shovels for a merely symbolic event? Would Jesus really use specially manufactured gold shovels with VIP’s at such an event? Or is this just yet another example of the elitist culture that pervades the church?
Jesus somewhere in the New Testament used a gold shovel for one of his object lessons and parables. I know its in there, it's in the Greek and has not been translated correctly. Something like Mark 43:23, and perhaps also at Philippians 15;9. It's there. It's there. Gold was so very important to Jesus that he told the poor to get off their dead butts and learn how to pan for it in the Sea of Galilee. It was so thick, he was able to walk along the surface of the water making it seem miraculous he had that power, when in fact, he was just looking in on his own investment...

CFR, respectfully.
I would think the GAs used the same golden shovels for subsequent groundbreaking ceremonies.
The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession... The LORD set his love on you and chose you... The LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery. Deut. 7

i doubt it. in the pic, you can see the temple name and date imprinted down the length of the shaft.

Is Mark 43:23 and Philippians 15:9 in the LWV version of the Bible?

LWV? msnobody, google knows only league of women voters.
Perhaps you are referring to the long winded version of the Bible where every thing is expanded to match modern aspirations?
LWV long-winded version. You win the prize.
I knew it must be the expanded version or perhaps the JST where extra verses were added.

This was my favorite part of the Des News article:
Jude Price — who has deep Sanpete Valley family roots and is President Nelson’s first cousin once removed — watched the rain and immediately claimed to know the source. As President Nelson left the groundbreaking ceremony, she yelled out to him: “These are the tears of joy of our ancestors,” she said.
Historically, many cultures have been able to harness the power of the rain dance. The above quote reveals a heretofore unknown means to supplicate the Gods for rain: ancestor tears through the groundbreaking of LDS temples. Imagine the impact this knowledge could have on climate change. And the targeted nature of the intervention could have applicability with our very own Great Salt Lake issue. Scheduled groundbreaking ceremonies for temples could be done out at the lake itself. Further studies may be needed to see if regular groundbreakings are enough or if the dead ancestors will catch on and you actually have to build the temple. Anyway, just another arrow in our quiver to fight climate change.
