Peterson knowingly misrepresents how ExMormons spend their weekends.

https://www.patheos.com/blogs/danpeters ... rolls.htmlThere are two deeply hostile and mocking, mostly aggressively atheist ex-LDS message boards that I look at fairly often. (I like to know what’s agitating the people there.)
On one of them, there’s invariably a thread every Sunday wherein people list all the wonderful things that they’re doing that day instead of attending church.
And, for all I know, they may well be giving an accurate summary of their Sundays. They may really spend the first day of each week gathering berries from beautiful alpine meadows, playing Rachmaninoff piano preludes, winning marathons, finishing novels, and being served breakfast in bed by their fashion-model former-Olympian spouses.
Or maybe they’re not.
One thing is for sure, Peterson isn't giving an accurate summary of their Sundays. Here are some excerpts from the people he is seeking to mock:
https://www.exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,2448255I auditioned two guitarists for the band (we had to let the original second guitarist go). One was too sloppy and wasn't keeping in time when playing a lead solo. The other was a very good player, but was heavy into blues and not much else, not so much what we're playing. We have a couple more to check out in the next week and if no one works out, we'll just skip the second guitarist and I'll cover it by myself.
Then later, I cooked a nice steak dinner and enjoyed it with my wife, then watched "The Fog" with a very young Jamie Lee Curtis. We watch our scary movies during Oct.
Saturday was nice too. We took our Kayaks to St. Helens and paddled around Scappoose Bay with my wife's sister. Saw lots of birds, fish jumping, etc. Then we walked around "Halloween Town" (the movie was filmed there" and had a nice meal in the afternoon. Beautiful day!
Donated blood (you know, something that *actually* does some good for someone). And got some donuts (something that does *me* a little good
I drove 240 miles round trip to watch my grandson play hockey. And now I'm drinking beer the my son and grandson.
It's Monday now but my Sunday was spent in peace, enjoying the unusually balmy October weather here in the sunny West.
It's a long weekend for Canadian Thanksgiving so I gave myself the days off and delved into a novel by Kathy Reichs about her forensic anthropologist Temperence Brennan. I wouldn't recommend this one if you have a weak stomach or you're about to start on your turkey dinner. A little bit more graphic in parts than many of her others. But always well written with a good mystery I can never solve. If it gets too suspenseful I sneak a peek at the end prematurely. I know that's a mortal sin but I often succumb.
A few little neighbourhood kids rang the bell to see if they could sweep my sidewalk for pizza money. Pizza on Thanksgiving is sacrilegious, surely. My walkway could definitely do with a sweep though.
My sister sent me holiday dinner over as I'm famously not a chef in any way. I wish I had inherited that gene from my mum, amongst others. Her holiday meals for us all were legendary. My brother went to friends for his dinner (because of the NG-not-a-chef thing, and neither is he). When I asked how his meal was, "Mom's turkey it ain't" was his sardonic reply, although he appreciated the invite. It's funny how we eat turkey on a certain day because that's what you're supposed to do at Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's. You often follow the crowd even when they're not around. I may opt for a burger next year.
I watered my huge chrysanthemum too, golden for autumn. That was about my biggest exercise for the day. I love do-nothing weekends.
I had breakfast at The Original Pancake House, which I had always assumed was a local family-owned restaurant in Sugarhouse, SLC, Utah, until I saw a sign in the exact same font on a restaurant in Winnipeg. Turns out it is a chain of 150 restaurants across North America.
After that I went across the street and poked my head into Costco, because why not. Unlike the SLC Costco, I did not see a single polygamous shopper. There were probably a few Mennonites, but they are harder to spot.
After that, I spent an hour walking through part of Assiniboine Park. It is a perfect fall day, and the park is gorgeous. It was depressing to compare it to the parks in the SL valley. Winnipeg is about a third the population of the Wasatch Front, and it is not considered one of Canada’s richer cities. That said, the park is jaw-dropping in both size and amenities. I’d estimate it is about 300 acres (two square miles more or less). Liberty Park in SLC is 40 acres.
Saw a play
I went and bought some rocks or crystals at the mall to help me with stress.
Everyone else chimes in:"They are just f#cking rocks Adam and they won't help you witj sh#t life stress or getting confidence".
I know I know but it is still worth a try and got me out of the house as they say. I could be a recluse or a shut in forever i swear so i have to push myself to go out and do stuff.
I'm pretty sure this one is tongue in cheek...I watched some Premier League soccer today. Arsenal beat Liverpool in a very spirited game. I also had a crabcake sandwich and a beer for lunch. It was a restful weekend.
Relaxing in my leopard skin loincloth and tool belt and luchador mask partaking of ethanol just as you suspected.
Peterson seems a little desperate to convince himself, and others, that people can't have fulfilling weekends if they don't include 3 hours of Mormon Church.Rather than warming a pew with my rear end, I slept in. Fed the animals. Went to Dutch Bros because my dog likes it there, went to the feed store, fed the ducks and the dog some peas, pondered why the ducks aren’t laying. Maybe they’re just tired, but they have gone full stop. They look healthy. Their routine hasn’t changed. If they’re hiding eggs, which they do, I can’t find them. My dog isn’t releasing noxious gas, so she hasn’t found them either. Their feathers look great except for the two who are finishing their autumn molt and are regrowing their flight feathers. I’m not sure what’s up. I saw five bald eagles one day, at the same time which I think is odd for so many to be hanging out together, and I think I’ve heard some hawks. Maybe the ducks are a bit disturbed. They make up for their poor perambulation with superior eyesight. I’m not sure what the issue is. I could try to force molt them, but I think that’s cruel (it involves withholding water), or I could give them artificial light because they tend to lay less when the days get shorter, but I think I’ll just leave them alone. There are tons of reasons they might not be laying, but they’re healthy and seem happy, so I’ll just let them alone.
Animals might be my gods. They give me joy and purpose and force me to get out of bed when I’m depressed.
