Joseph Smith Enjoyed Giving and Receiving Enemas Just As Much As Everyone Else.

Folks, you really can't make this stuff up.
I have very close friends but giving them (or receiving) an enema would never cross my mind in a million years. Apparently, Benjamin Johnson was
very close to Joseph Smith.
Benjamin Johnson claimed to be closer to the Prophet than many others. "Even so close as to give him enemas when needed and to receive such from him," recorded Hyrum L. and Helen Mae Andrus in their famous book, They Knew The Prophet.

The comments (turning the other cheek) are kind of amusing.
Can someone here verify if this is legitimate? Maybe I'm just being prudish or suffering from presentism?

This feels very ancient to me, like a true restoration of an ancient human ritual. Please keep an eye out for my article in Interpreter landing this Friday: “Ancient Enemas: A Prophetic Expulsion that Miraculously Mirrors the Story of the Exodus.”

Some say Brigham Young probably contracted peritonitis from consecrated oil enemas. He did learn from the best.

Denton cites page 91 of the Andruses' 1974 book. I checked page 91 and didn't find the language she places inside quotation marks. Perhaps I have a bowdlerized copy.

Joseph made a lot of powerful enemas in his time. Good to know that he also had powerful friends whenever he needed to unload some crap.
