You all are cordially invited to experience and come listen to Dr. Dennis R. MacDonald's incredible discoveries of how the Gospel authors took from the Greek epics, the stories they were familiar with in the entire Jewish, Greek, Egyptian, and Asia Minor cultures and turned them into stories of Jesus in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and Acts. It is going to be epic! This Saturday Night at 7 p.m. Mountain Time in the USA.
We know the Gospel authors took and used from the old Jewish scriptures, no question. Dr. MacDonald has now discovered they utilized the Greek epic literatures of Homer, Euripides, and Virgil, to name a few. It is an incredible development of biblical scholarship which demonstrates the Gospel's main concerns are not always literal historical, but also poetic, mimetic, and imitational telling of stories that makes Jesus greater than the Greek heroes.

Fun. Philo. This is a great guest. His work demonstrates nicely the myth of the Jesus story.

Wish I could. As of now, got a hot date with the wife planned. I could try to hide my earpiece, sneaking it between sips of wine and nibbles of food, but shed likely grow suspicious that I’m trying to catch the big game, as some sort of Homer Simpson antic. Sounds kinda hot and scandalous. I might get worked up over the deception but she’ll likely be turned off. I’m thinking it’s not worth it.

Ah yes, do take care of the marriage, without question! Have a great date and good food and wonderful company also.

I'll have to miss the live version too because I'll be at Southfork Ranch enjoying a fabulous meal and entertainment including touring the Ewing mansion again -- Dallas Texas.
But it does sound like a very interesting subject in which Joseph Smith was quite ignorant of.

It's all good, it was a last minute thing and we are in the works for having many shows in the up-coming weeks, so there will be plenty to watch!

Thanks to all who were able to come, sorry we had to make it on a Saturday night. We will have more shows next year. What a great time asking a Bible scholar questions and him directing his answers right at us and educating us. Wouldn't miss this for the world. The cool thing is it is in video as well for your viewing and listening pleasure.

1. Does he discuss his critics and if so, how does he respond to them?
2. Why do you say this is a new development? What part is new? I ask because I don't see this as new. You're talking in part at least, about Mark borrowing from The Odyssey, right? Or is it new to you and/or your audience?

Thanks for the great show, Philo! I enjoyed it thoroughly. Prof. MacDonald is a fine fellow and very generous with his time.
