How Do ExLDS and Atheists' conduct funerals

I have often thought as my beliefs get deconstructed how I would like my funeral conducted. LDS I understand are clothed in their temple garments. Would they accept cremation? I had achiest friend who worked as a psychologist with disturbed children At his funeral there were simply a story of his life and contributions from family and friends. I am interested in those here who do not accept the concept how you would funeral be conducted.

I have read horror stories on ex-Mo Reddit of a deceased person’s relatives going forward with the full temple clothes burial. In spite of the deceadent’s requests to the contrary.

A good friend died a few years ago. He was exMormon and long term atheist. Most of his remaining family had also become nonbelievers so there was no move for a LDS funeral. He was cremated and the funeral was family and friends saying words of memory for him. It was a good and satisfying funeral. I have been to more LDS funerals due to family. I thought they were good as in expressing genuine concern for the people involved. I have been to an evangelical funeral which I found unpleasant. It was long and the preacher thought a long tiresome sermon was the order of the day. I sort thought the preacher was more concerned about his own role than other matters. I am not going to assume all Evangelical funerals would be like that. (but it is an easy opportunity to observe, here comes death to judge your life, repent etc to avoid hell ...)

In the event of my death, I asked my wife to cremate my remains, and plant the ashes with a tree. I asked her to go visit with the kids and spend time with them doing whatever. She in turn asked the same. It’s nice to know our ‘funerals’ will be easy peasy. For people who want a service of some sort, I like the idea of a party and celebration of life; it worked really well for my SIL’s memorial. It was kind of awesome.

My brother in law was white Russian. When he died the service was in the local Russian orthodox church. The liturgy was long and priest preached in Russian and stopped for an English presentation. Then there was the party. Food and drink everywhere. I had not drunk vodka much then and I started drinking it like water. I was up dancing with some elderly Russian lady. Later at home was REALLY sick, the ceiling was going around. Never again. The Irish wake was I hear a joyful occasion. This guy has written a lot about Mormon funerals.

How Do ExLDS and Atheists conduct funerals?

Probably more as a memorial to the deceased and a vehicle to comfort family and friends.

What could detract from these goals more than an LDS-conducted funeral? Asking Donald Trump to speak.
