I went to a Regional YSA fireside last night to support my friend who was asked to speak. (I apologize I can't disclose more details of location or who the speaker was).
The speaker spoke for 70 mins. He did a lot of name dropping of his connections to general authorities. He said Nelson married his son. He said he spent the day with Oaks in the church archives.
He said he has it on good authority, as if he knew personally, that the Q15 members are going to Adam Ondi Ahman multiple times a month to prepare the land.
And the craziest thing he said is that it is commonly believed and he believes that Nelson will be the prophet of the 2nd coming and that he is getting healthier everyday.
Nelson married his son and the old dudes who supposedly run the show are traveling to Missouri multiple times a month to what? till the soil or something? Those are some crazy claims. I like the idea of Jesus coming while Nelson is still alive best though. Bring it, heavenly lunatic. I suppose if you want destruction and burning to happen, now is as good a time as any.

The real world ain't going anywhere fortunately. I don't get the Mormons' desire for something better than this Earth we have here and now. Certainly don't understand trading a bird in the hand for 2 in the celestial bush.
I've heard this kind of second hand talk all my life. During the 70s in my little neck of Zion second coming speculation was common place. The general consensus was that the big event was imminent. No more than a few years off. Certainly in our lifetimes and I was part of the chosen generation who would be here to witness it. This wasn't just back of the classroom Aaronic Priesthood chatter, but real adult leadership over the pulpit preaching. Fast forward fifty years. The leaders that I so looked up to at the time have all passed. Including my Bishop father. Like so many things Mormon, fervent beliefs turned out to be silly stories that are disavowed and discounted by the current crop of leaders.
I remember the old dude telling all us kids in the temple baptismal font that we were a special generation. Implying that we would see the second coming.
I guess it wasn’t a sacred enough experience on its own without the embellishment.
Mormons have told themselves for almost 200 years that Jesus was coming back in their lifetimes. But they never pay attention to their own history so most of them don't know this.

Maybe they are finally going to build a temple there. The church owns the land and it was dedicated by Brigham Young in 1838.
Adam-ondi-Ahman is the site of a future grand council where Jesus Christ will meet with His stewards of all dispensations and receive back the keys of the kingdom in preparation for His Second Coming. Only those called to the meeting will know of its occurrence.
