I don’t think that it is any longer the case that interracial marriage is forbidden or even counseled against. I know a number of mixed-race couples in the LDS Church. I have no doubt that she could have had a local leader who said this stuff, but it does not reflect current LDS policy.Vēritās wrote: ↑Thu Mar 09, 2023 9:34 pmApparently this has become an issue in social media as of late:

That’s disappointing! They need to excise that.drumdude wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 2:32 amThe advice to marry the same race is still being hosted on LDS.org

Just for yuks, I went to the site and ran a few searches on the subject of choosing an eternal companion. Only one that I found included that quote from Kimball and it omitted the "race" portion of the quote (properly, i.e., using ellipses). None of the manuals referred to common race as an important criteria for selecting a marriage partner. The clear emphasis is on marrying another Mormon and marrying in the temple. If the manual drumdude linked to is actually in use today, someone in correlation was asleep at the switch.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 2:15 pmThat’s disappointing!
