Living stipends for full-time church leaders are estimated to be significantly less than the salary of a member of U.S Congress, and hundreds of thousands of dollars less than leaders of large public and private universities or comparable nonprofit organizations.
Lost in this all, once again, are the actual purposes and uses of funds as members and leaders of the church understand them. Simply put, Jesus will need tremendous working capital upon his return. We intend to give him some of it, with the remainder to be used for continued Church operating costs and guaranteed stipends.

The Church is fined for illegally and deceptively creating shell companies to avoid responsible use of it's funds, and then asserts to its members that it's completely responsible with its fortune?
Sounds like they are doubling down on their dishonesty to me. This is really quite appalling even for the Church.

oh man....seriously. Luckily that bishopric guy, with a sly grin, all but confirmed the fund continues to swell, in the wake of all this deception, and is likely ranging upwards of more than 150 Billion now.

All of this makes much more sense when you just accept that LDS is a corporation masquerading as a church, rather than reacting the other way around.dastardly stem wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 1:21 pmThe Church is fined for illegally and deceptively creating shell companies to avoid responsible use of it's funds, and then asserts to its members that it's completely responsible with its fortune?

I found the only new, damaging thing for the LDS church was in how badly the church representative came across. Smug, condescending, but also a deer-in-the-headlights (the question about what's the difference between secret and confidential). Total fail for the church.
Apologists try to shill an explanation to questioning members as though science and reason really explain and buttress their professed faith. It [sic] does not. By definition, faith is the antithesis of science and reason. Apologetics is a further deception by faith peddlers to keep power and influence.

"Unfounded allegations"????? Wow. What a lie.Markk wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 12:17 pmStatement Issued Following CBS ‘60 Minutes’ ReportChurch moves forward ‘consistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ’
https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.or ... tes-report
"Following media inquiries, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued the following statement in response to a report by U.S. broadcaster CBS “60 Minutes” news magazine program.
The Church believes in being financially responsible by carefully ensuring it has adequate resources available to fulfill its divinely appointed responsibilities. To Church members who support the work of salvation through living the gospel of Jesus Christ, caring for those in need, inviting all to receive the gospel and uniting families for eternity, we’ll continue to move forward consistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ which makes this world a better place.
It’s unfortunate ‘60 Minutes’ sought to elevate a story based on unfounded allegations by a former employee who has a different view on how the Church should manage its resources."

Re: This Sunday: IRS whistleblower to break his silence on LDS Church finances, will speak on ‘60 Minutes’
The corrected statement:
The Church believes in being financially responsible by carefully ensuring it has adequate resources available to fulfill its divinely appointed responsibilities. [to reach $1 Trillion in assets and beyond] To Church members who support the work of salvation through living the gospel of Jesus Christ, caring for those in need, inviting all to receive the gospel and uniting families for eternity, we’ll continue to move forward consistent with the gospel of Jesus Christ which makes this world a better place. [where we control all the money, baby]
It’s unfortunate ‘60 Minutes’ sought to elevate a story based on unfounded allegations [cough, cough, BS, cough cough] by a former employee who has a different view on how the Church should manage its resources. [no one should question the Mormon God on how He manages His finances, and that is why we hide them.]
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.
