The church is still telling the poor to pay tithing and starve

Tik Tok is blowing up with justified indignation over this teaching. Inflation is rampant, businesses and jobs have evaporated during Covid, home ownership is out of reach for millions of young Americans, and the church doubled their horde of cash by investing all of their windows’ mites wisely during the pandemic.
This is the church saying “let them eat cake” while announcing dozens of new 30+ million dollar temples.
Of course, the few poor people who do come into some luck after paying tithing will make for some wonderful testimony building stories during the next general conference. The ones without such luck? They won’t be around to tell their story, will they? Such a loving plan by a loving church.
