Boylan the Beggar

I'll start this off by saying that I don't mind people getting paid for apologetics and I don't mind people asking for help when they need it. My issue is with hypocrisy.
Robert Boylan a.k.a. Richard Nygren has a history of insulting people for their income (or at least what he thinks is their income). He hurls these insults even as he begs for money on Patreon, Paypal, Venmo, and GoFundMe. He currently has 2 donors on Patreon giving him $27 a month. The free market doesn't seem to appreciate mopologetics. His current GoFundMe has been active for 6 months and raised 585 euros. 500 of which came from "Grant Peterson" with the instructions, "Get some better audio equipment and have a safe trip here to the USA!" Boylan doesn't appear to have taken the advice since his podcast's production value is still low quality. Going back further, Boylan has begged for laptop money, and money to support himself while he is unemployed. The same man who apparently can't afford a Chromebook insults other people over their income. I wonder how Mormons (or anybody) can take Boylan seriously when he acts like this?

Let me know when he starts an onlyfans. I’d throw him a few dollars if he puts in some honest work for it.

I know that a begging page on any of the donation sites may not reasonably be expected to conform to academic writing standards, but really:
- mixing of first- and third-person pronouns for himself, then the same third-person pronoun for others is a bit jarring
- "... blog posts for my blog ..." vs. "... one needs ..."
- "... if one feels inclined to help support my blogging ..."
- "... another avenue are amazon vouchers."
- "My laptop has recently been near deaths-door ..."
OTOH, if an academic is begging for money to support a writing project, they may find it worth their while to showcase their writing skills.
I would expect better of my former students at the grade 9-10 level.

I guarantee you he made an angry Facebook post around 2015 about Ordain Women founder Kate Kelly begging online for a new laptop.

If you can stomach sifting through his blog you'll find that he struggles with grammar and clarity. He also struggles with brevity, choosing to use ten words when one or two would suffice.

He either doesn’t know how or is to lazy to introduce his post’s point in the first sentence. Every post just starts in as if in the middle of a paragraph. Half the time the reader is left to guess what is his writing and what he is quoting. It’s a mystery how he managed to graduate past grade 9.
