FAIRMormon conference kicks off with DCP’s Festschrift and lifetime achievement award

Post by drumdude »

Dan was presented with FairMormon’s Lifetime Achievement Award, Defender of the Faith. Also:

Announcing DCP’s Festschrift “Steadfast: In Defense of Faith.”

Reflecting Daniel’s Unquestioned Loyalty to the Kingdom.”

This award ceremony was in lieu of a live question and answer session, the questions posed to DCP will be received and viewed in camera and only answered later if he so deigns.

Dan was famously gracious, his reaction, “Thanks. So am I done?”

Congratulations to Dr. Peterson, and pre-order your copy of the essay collection now!

Dr. Peterson received the FairMormon Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. Perhaps that explains his response this morning: "I did not expect this." I was certainly confused.

Maybe I'm missing something, and because I've lost almost all interest in the lolcow, but did he get a poorly edited book in his honor, by chance?

That remains to be seen. I've heard from unreliable sources that Brother Wyatt saw to the printing of the volume up in Wyoming and will be driving the finished books down to Utah Valley in the next day or two.

There was a slight delay and the copies were not available at the time of the presentation of his award. Someone snuck in a hidden acrostic, and many dozens of copies had to be burned.

In order to present Dan with his copy, however, the hidden acrostic is still visible in his 1st edition.

Congrats are in order to Dan Peterson on being recognized by his small band of peers as a leading liar for the Lord. History will see a career spent acting in bad faith, pretending at professorial duty while wasting thousands of hours indulging a sad addiction to online tantrums, petulant missives, and ardent avoidance of accountability.

 I wonder which publisher is being used.

Congratulations to DCP for winning FairMormon’s Lifetime Achievement Award, for the second time.

Hopefully, DCP can win the Lifetime Achievement Award a few more times before he dies.

Throughout his career, Dr. Peterson has devoted his time, knowledge, and passion to promoting faith, addressing challenging issues, and providing much-needed context to the beliefs and history of the Church. Through his writings, lectures, and leadership Daniel C. Peterson has played a vital role in fostering understanding and unity among Latter-day Saints, as well as others interested in learning about the faith. His commitment to scholarship and faithfulness are truly exemplary, and his remarkable ability to blend intellectual rigor with good humor and compassion have touched the lives of many.
It’s being published by the Interpreter Foundation and Eborn. That’s not a good sign.

I expect we will see half-hearted essays of around the same calibre of Midge’s latest review.
