“DCP” wrote: My brand of conservatism is not only a matter of public policy, but, even beyond that and more fundamentally, entails strong standards of character, integrity, morality, decorum, and behavior.
I am very unhappy about the state of political and civic discourse in the United States, shocked at the direction we seem to be heading, deeply discouraged by the available partisan options, and genuinely very much worried for the future of my country and its fundamental institutions. Apart from divine grace, I don’t see them as indestructible. And are we worthy of divine grace? I’m not sure.
It’s just so ironic to see DCP whinge about the state of politics. He has spent his life flinging mud, distorting the truth, and now running an entire journal of pseudo intellectual garbage. The climate change deniers and anti-vaccine lobby could learn a lot from how Interpreter promotes a version of reality completely at odds with facts, logic, and reason.
I don’t seem to remember DCP ever publicly apologizing for his treatment of Brent Metcalfe. He certainly never chastised Billy Hamblin for his childish little stunt.
Why does DCP expect politicians to act in better faith than he himself does? DCP is playing a perfect part in creating this disgusting aspect of society he claims to be so unhappy about.

DCP Opines
And are we worthy of divine grace? I’m not sure.
Idiot. Obviously he's a Mormon. This misunderstanding of worthiness is SO Mormon it's laughably insane. ONLY a Mormon would worry about worthiness to an actual
FREELY GIVEN GIFT WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED.

They would sell you the air you breathe for free if they could.

Don't give them any ideas, many people are dumb enough to fall for it. All they have to do is appeal to ego and say that magical word "blessings" and they'd make billions more.

Given his well-documented and frequent acts of plagiarism, Peterson's use of the word “integrity” is highly ironic.

And are we worthy of divine grace? I’m not sure.
Errrmmm... isn't one of the central premises of Christianity that we aren't worthy of God's grace?

DCP--well, Mormonism for that matter--is more rooted in the Old Testament than the New Testament. God destroying Sodom and Gomorrah and drowning the inhabitants of the word other than Noah's family and a mating pair of each species.
Grace? Not so much with DCP and Mormonism. It's almost like they prefer the mean, jealous and vengeful God of the Old Testament.

Yes, but that we receive it anyway. Those who teach it us conditional upon obeying them are corrupting it.
Essentially humans using the free gift for their own worldly gain. Like threatening young girls with destruction if they don’t marry you…

I had always thought that grace was something we were simply not capable of being worthy of - otherwise the benefits would be earned, not freely given.

We're already worthy. We're good enough. No redemption needed. Those are lies told to us by men who wish to make us feel subordinate to them. Christianity is lie upon lie, layered upon generation after generation, inflicting untold misery on the psyches of us humans.
What a shame.
