It turns out that there is (or was) a 2M+ subs YouTube channel called "8 Passengers" about a Mormon family raising their 6 kids utilizing the teachings of the Church. The mom also co-hosted a parenting advice channel called "ConneXions" that gave harsh, faithful family advice to parents.

It's interesting that concerned family and viewers made their case with CPS, and there is no mention of any efforts to bring concerns up with the Church or local leaders. Of course, what could they be expected to do? It's not like any of the adults charged had aired any material that questioned the Brethren. I'm sure they paid their tithing.which has been called a "cult" by some online. Many found the parenting style promoted by the pair to be extreme and harsh. The frequent inclusion of what has been called homophobic, racist and transphobic comments did not help their popularity.
