I’ve read Jesus’s teachings in regards to not seeking the material at the expense of taking care of the poor and/or our own spiritual well being. As it is, I believe many have lost their way in this respect.
Yes, the church's expanded leadership and bureaucracy and all the area presidents, stake presidents and bishops certainly have done so.... it's so sad.
This is a gross misstatement.

Well, of course you aren't going to "scripture chase." There's no scripture for you to chase. That's my point. Thanks for helping me make it.

But now you're off on your usual ad homs and red herrings.

Heavens to Betsy you are a sensitive soul.

Asking you to use your own common sense is just a bit too much to ask, huh?

Regards,
MG
So, that's two more ad homs. It's your MO when you can't respond with substance.

You are not just a sensitive soul, you are a worrisomely sensitive soul. Respond with substance?

I did.

Then I asked you to simply use some common sense. That apparently was asking too much.

Words of the day:

ad homs

troll

You can get a lot of mileage on some roads using these ‘go to’s’.

I think that only counts as one more, despite the wordiness.

Note that you abandoned any pretense of addressing substance when you were challenged to back up your claims about what Jesus said with his actual words. All you did after that was talk about me. Ad hom is your "go to" when you can't back up the stuff you make up about Jesus or God or whatever it is we happen to be discussing. "To the man" is a 100% accurate description of what you are doing. When you do it with me, I'm going to label it.

Wow! Two more. Are you going for some kind of record? At this point, trolling would also be a perfectly accurate description of your last few posts. You might as well have repeatedly posted "I got nothin."

Common sense? You purporting to know the mind of Jesus, contrary to his actual words, is "common sense"? "Your common sense" is man's thinking, not God's thinking. The frequency with which you purport to speak for your God is what you should find worrisome. Did Jesus not tell Peter to stop working as a fisherman and follow him? As in the exact opposite of what you claim he meant?

When I try to get you to pay attention to the actual words of your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, you brush it off as "scripture chase." Then you purport to tell me what Jesus really meant to say two thousand years ago based on your 2023 "common sense?"

What the Jesus of the New Testament told his followers to do was radical and revolutionary. Christians over the centuries have tried to rationalize away his actual words because what he demanded of them required sacrificing all earthly things they valued -- including their families -- to follow him. HIs followers were to lay up their treasures in heaven -- not on earth. That is a terribly hard thing to be asked to do. But once the earthly entanglements were cut loose, the burden (as i think you've noted) becomes light. Kind of Bhuddist when you think about it.

His message is pretty simple. Abandon all earthly concerns, give your possessions to the poor, follow him. The COJCOLDS's accumulation of massive wealth while hiding that wealth fits nowhere in that message. Neither does taking from the poor to contribute to that accumulation.

But by all means, continue to talk about me.
