LDS volunteer hours in decline

From the last three years reported:

2023 - 6,200,000 volunteer hours
2022 - 6,300,000 volunteer hours
2021 - 6,800,000 volunteer hours

I don’t recall clocking in for my shift at the Bishop’s storehouse. Is that a new thing?

It would surprise me if the accounting here came down to something like: our ward has been assigned to fill four 4-hiur slots this Thursday night. Any volunteers? And then 16 hours is written down regardless od how many showed and how long they stayed. That wouldn’t necessary account for a decrease, but it woild surprise me if it’s as fly by night as that.
