In the past, I may have used the acronym in a reply where it was already used. In my thinking though, any organization that does not teach the gospel, is not a church, so in a sense, the term would apply.

Apologists have backed off the expression "so-called" taking the humor out of TSCC.
I saw a photo of plate or something inscribed on the Mountain Meadows Mountain memorial that the LDS church put at a site and was surprised to read it happened during the "so-called" Utah War. The word/words "so-called" seemed wrong.
