I had a very specific criticism of something John does that impacts a limited range of viewers. I think it is fair to point that out. I have been an observer and interlocutor in this community for decades, so I feel OK about saying something. It is not as though I went out guns blazing to trash MoSto.Markk wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:45 pmKish,
Say what you will about JD....his videos on truth claims, with folks like Sandra, Ritner, Bushman, Palmer, Quinn, Metcalf and DV....etc will be priceless to future historians, they will age with time. He knows that and slows everything down for "history," he gets that and that is his genius. Your critiquing him in the negative, comes off weak. You haven't earned the right yet. It is like a new hire criticizing his boss.
I tried to listen to your podcast today while driving, to many "I" s......I don't care about you (from a podcast point of view, I care about you as a person)....I care about the subject. I kept fast forwarding trying to get to it and really never found it.
My two cents.
It's okay to say something, LoL that's what we do here. I am just giving you my opinion as you asked. And again, LoL I am a professional podcast listener in my daily commute. But perception is everything when starting out. When RFM first started it was like who is this guy, he looks like a poor man Bob Hope and laughs like Phyllis Diller on meth, what does he know about Mormonism? That certainly changed, he is a master communicator and does his home work and I learn so much from his efforts.
I commend you for having the nads to put yourself out there, but again the perception was, "who is this guy criticizing the Rush Limbo of Mormon podcasts, as a rookie podcaster."
Part of the problem may be personal, in that visually you are nothing like your avatar, Lol, that was certainly a let down. I am a huge fan of westerns and I would have expected you as Marston in Quigley Down Under...."Bourbon with Kish" ....not a person snuggling up with a coffee cup.
It's funny about perceptions, and how an Avatar can paint a word picture of a person in our minds. But people get very rich creating brands by perception, both good and bad.
