A counterpoint:

If you're familiar with Jacob, you know how awful he can be. But his most popular video on his YouTube page "Can we go on like this?" takes Mormon bigotry to a whole new level.

In the nearly 30 minute video, Jacob rants and raves about how awful trans people are and how horrible members who support the LGBT community are. His main gripe is that the church isn't bigoted enough. He wants the heretical members hunted down and excommunicated. He wants LGBT people purged from the rolls unless they "straighten up", so to speak.

This is a very dangerous person passing off his hate as Christlike love.
This is in addition to the forum discovering a number of falsehoods in his apologetics. I haven’t seen the video but I would be surprised if the summary is far from the mark.
From the comments, an additional opinion about Jacob, which goes back to the OP and his apologetic style and works:
...Way back when, after I was out but my close friend was going through her progmo phase, she had me try and help her as an admin in a large progressive Mormon Facebook group to articulate the exmo POV.

Jacob was the most obnoxious troll in there. Always putting on this veneer of civility but absolutely acting in bad faith in every dialogue. He’d get pinned down so often and just slide the goalposts or ghost the conversation. It was obvious then he wanted to be some prominent defender of the faith and yeah he did it but god what a miserable existence it must be and what a hate monger.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Jacob is being misrepresented AGAIN just as he was in the post that drumdude and IHAQ referred to off of Reddit that was shown to be BS (in my previous post).

Don’t take things at face value because someone on Reddit says it.

I hope you were able to take a ‘refresher course’ and view the debate I linked to in my opening post on this thread.

Hope all is well with you, Marcus. When I ‘drive by’ you’re usually here.

Regards,
MG

The LDS apologists seem to always drop their masks at some point. People need to know that Metcalfe is butthead, after all!

ZING!!

Even if in this particular case you referred to earlier you may have very well gotten it wrong…

Hasty conclusions can get you into hot water. But if someone doesn’t call you out…Reddit, whatever…you can actually get away with it.

I’m very disinclined to read anything that Bill Hamblin wrote because of his nasty little joke. I have to unfortunately say the same of Jacob Hansen, after catching him in some falsehoods and apparently now some transphobia.

A little kindness will get you a long way, but one ounce of sneering will stop it in its tracks. DCP loves to point this out about the “obsession board” but he fails to recognize that it goes both ways.

And beyond that, it’s ideas that really matter. If Hansen is revisiting old arguments then that’s fine, I just don’t see the appeal.

You have? Where? I listened (twice) to the video presentation you linked to. I’m not seeing it.

Watch that Bill Reel and RFM video discussing Jacob Hanson. Dislike of the LGBTQ community seems like rather a big thing with Jacob. Wish he could be more mellow like Kwaku El.
