The End of Nemo the Mormon

Post by Morley »

Apparently, Nemo the Mormon received his invitation to meet with the Court of Love.

He posted this on Youtube, a couple of hours ago.

I knew he shouldn't have done that episode on pre-Columbian horses. Nemo committed the cardinal sin of showing a tapir online.

Whatever happens, it won't change anything. There are now thousands and thousands of active Mormons on social media that are critical and shining a much needed light on various church practices.

If the church is stupid enough to excommunicate Nemo, his online presence will only grow bigger and he will become more influential. Long gone are the days that excommunication actually served to silence someone.

I'm old enough to remember when DCP proclaimed that excommunication would probably serve to silence John Dehlin and reduce his social footprint. How did that turn out, DCP?

The Church is so bad at PR. They're going to be a 1 million member church with 1 trillion dollar trust fund in a hundred years.

Excommunication is the best thing that can happen to a Mormon content creator.

The Church tried this once before with Galileo, but the BYU science department still celebrates the universe revolving around its campus.

Douglas Stilgoe is young and articulate. He will be around for a long time even as Nemo the ex-Mormon, just now he has been jettisoned from the dying Church of Krypton but is destined to grow immensely powerful on the Planet Earth.

I think his cardinal sin was noting that temple steeples are not necessary for temple ordinances.

In other words, not following the brethren when they say 2+2=5.

Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Nemo says no, but it has to be part of the decision.

True dat!

The two cardinal, unforgivable sins in Mormonism are murder and anything that actively attacks the brethren’s credibility.

The former may at times be permissible if God wills it.
