I'm so glad I watched Conference to listen to our living prophet. Sure, Rusty told another blatant lie, this time about a gun being pointed at his head and misfiring. And sure, Rusty didn't bother to actually do any prophetic stuff, like warning the good people of Florida to evacuate. But, I'm totally on board with making sure nobody uses the term Mormon again.

Seriously, has Rusty ever done anything remotely prophetic? Is it too much to ask of an actual prophet to stop telling whoppers (death spiral, lady with a red hat, gun misfiring, etc) and actually prophesy occasionally?

I guess people can continue to sustain Rusty as a prophet, seer, and revelator. Just don't expect Rusty to ever be honest or to prophesy, see or reveal anything.

Many believers point to the home centered scripture study come follow me..... pre covid as prophetic. They also list his prediction that the next conference would be completely different even though he explicitly said he did not see covid coming. Take your vitamins is another. All of these are retconned into the past to elevate Nelson to prophet, seer and revelator status.

He pushed out every program the church was trialing and testing: two-hour church, ministering, ending the relationship with the Boy Scouts, and maybe others I am forgetting. His hope was that at least one program change would survive a long time and he would forever be the prophet that introduced X.

Sure, the replacement for Scouts sucks, but it gave the young men a crappy program. Which the young women have had all along. Some say it was the sex abuse scandals; others say it was because, unlike his predecessors going back to the mid-70s, he didn’t have anything of note to have to do with scouting (awards or otherwise). Though he doesn’t have a problem telling young men they must serve missions, even though he skipped out on serving one.

I can’t think of a single prophetic utterance that was specific enough to call it a prophecy.

Take your vitamins is, in my mind, a definitive prophesy that something big is happening in the near future.

And when inevitably the church continues to stagnate with no major change, he needs to be held to that failed prophesy. Add it to the pile of Mormon lies.

They also don't survey members to determine, for example, what turns people off most about the temple ceremonies.

Both of the last two Presidents of the Church (Monson, Nelson) have repeatedly preached about the importance and benefit of boys serving a mission at 18 years old. Neither of them served a mission at 18. Both it would seem were not hindered in their Church progression nor spirituality nor family lives.

Monsoon claimed service in the Coastguard as his excuse, Nelson it seems thought his schooling more important. Nelson would suggest to young men now that schooling wasn’t a valid excuse for not serving a mission at 18 years old.
