I have not heard if McClellan's book has raised from being 7th on the New York Times Best Sellers List, but I am reviewing it tonight on my BYP LIVE program. It is simply as sensational as I had expected it to be. Got it yesterday at Sunstone (saw many old friends and enjoyed the conversations and lunch with them). Come on over and see the BYP take McClellan to the wood shed. Lol! O.K., I am so much in agreement with so much of what he says I'm probably going to praise more than criticize. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Dan McClellan along with others have done a great service in bringing to light that which was hidden behind worlds/curtains of misunderstanding and/or ignorance. Nothing but good can come from honest inquiry. As I said on another thread in regards to his book:

Scriptural exegesis is not limited to those that serve at the general church level of ecclesiastical assignments. In fact, I would hazard a guess that Dan McClellan has spent much more time engaged in that activity, with his scholarly pursuits and expertise, than most...if not all...of the folks serving in the First Quorums and General Leadership positions.

He along with Charlie Harrell and others are helping to clarify things that were rather murky as a result of 'line upon line' being only part way down the road of understanding. Everyone has their own 'mission' in regards to the natural process of 'precept upon precept' bringing us along in our evolutionary progression towards greater truth and light.

I hope your presentation went well. I watched the first little bit of it. Beautiful country you live in.

What a shame that the Prophets and Apostles and General Authorities and teaching programmes of the Church haven’t been able to do that over the last hundred years. One wonders why they have proven inadequate in that regard…

The humanity of ecclesiastical leadership through the millennia is on full display in this work. It has never been more clear that flawfull men interpreting distorted scripture with a sprinkle of narcissism have been leading the church from day one. The logical fallacies and assumptions perpetuated by general authorities over the last 200 years (such as proof texting) are absolutely torn apart through this work. Of all the books on your proverbial “shelf” this one is the most dense, capable of crashing the thing down all on its own.

The kinds of things that are being “restored” are all minor and pertain to procedural and organizational issues. There is little, if any, further light and knowledge on doctrinal matters.

In fact, on doctrinal matters, there has actually been a roll back, so that we know less now then we did before.

why blacks were denied the priesthood and temple blessings
the general geography of the Book of Mormon
that plural marriage was required for the highest exaltation
How the Book of Mormon was translated
Location of Garden of Eden
Adam-God
That we would become just like God and not only get our own world but create worlds of our own
Notice that these are all doctrines that history, science and cultural pressures have caused the church to rethink. More and more, the answer to questions for which we used to have answers for is, “We don’t know” or “we don’t teach that.”

I've had Charlie on my show many times and everything we talked about and showed on numerous subjects is not supportive of LDS doctrine at all.
