There are numerous threads on this discussion board discussing Daniel C Peterson as a villain in the perspective of exmormons, particularly those who visit this board. Therefore, I believe it is appropriate to initiate a thread that highlights a positive view of Peterson and the way Mormonism perceives the world.
A few days ago, our very own Marxist moderator Can'tpakes moved one of my posts to the Telestial forum because I was defending Peterson in a thread where the author initially disparaged Peterson by insinuating that he would act maliciously if he learned of Moksha's passing. This led me to explore the history of Peterson and the influence of Mormonism on his life. I have come to understand the following, Peterson was born on January 15, 1953. He was raised in the church, served a mission in Switzerland, holds a Bachelor's degree in Greek Philosophy from BYU, and studied in Jerusalem and Cairo. He earned a PhD in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures from UCLA. He held various church positions, including that of Bishop. He served as a professor at BYU and was the founder and director of METI from 1992 until 2010. He served as the founding editor of The Farms Review from 1989 to 2012. He has written many books and articles, and it seems that the framework of the faith he adheres to has supported him in becoming a successful and accomplished individual in society.
The fundamental question is, what drives so many participants in this discussion board to fixate on Daniel C Peterson and seek to tarnish his reputation? I will keep this thread updated by sharing positive Mormon videos that feature Peterson being himself, discussing the benefits of the Mormon church, and offering insights into why he believes it is advantageous for its members.
The link above is a Mormon Stories video featuring Peterson. I think it's a good starting point to help understand who Peterson is and how Mormonism has been a positive influence on his life.

Hog is just stressed because MAGA has taken his SNAP Bennie’s away. And believe you me, HoG loves his taxpayer-funded food.

In this video Peterson talks about how the Book of Mormon is a second witness of Christ. I haven't finished it yet, but when I do I'll come back to report on what he believes.
So far im finding his opinions to be fascinating! Please take a look and tell me what you think!

Not true. Hoo posted inappropriately on a memorial thread dedicated to one of our community members who passed away. Hoo's post was reported, and consequently was split out into its own thread.

Im starting to research the CES letter and this 2014 talk from Peterson is very interesting. He's discussing the CES letter.
Not sure if I agree with his opinion.
Does anyone know if Peterson has ever had a one on one conversation with the author of the CES letter?

See, that's the thing there, Gad. The hounds don't get lost, they recover what was lost. Maybe over whiskey and rye we can talk about my uncle Jed's hounds. A few of them got a big tom backed up against a rock wall. That did not work out. If the lion only has to defend a half circle, it wins. And it wins big.
I think Hound is making a point here. A very relevant point.

What a transparently petty troll post.
Hound, you might want to consider therapy. I think you’re suffering from EDS (ex-Mormon derangement syndrome.)

That, is an interesting twist.
Does this EDS make one obsess with DCP and his culinary habits, or ignore DCP?
