Temple Building

President Nelson believed that the Lord wanted him to announce more temples than all of his predecessors combined. Upon his death, and as the new incumbent's first order of business, President Oaks believes the Lord wants him to reverse that and slow it all down.
April 2025 Nelson We are grateful to the Lord for the acceleration of temple-building in recent years. Under His direction, today we announce plans to construct a temple in each of these 15 locations.
October 2025 Oaks (within a week of Nelson’s death)
"With the large number of temples now in the very earliest phases of planning and construction, it is appropriate that we slow down the announcement of new temples,"
This tells me that it wasn’t the Lord driving temple announcements, it was Nelson’s ego. It also informs us of the dynamic within Nelson’s First Presidency. Either Oaks was a Yes Man as counsellor, or else Nelson didn’t listen to his counsellors.

Nelson was known to oppose the term "Mormon" for members of the church - something that Monson embraced. So it appears that Monson ignored Nelson's views, and that Nelson couldn't wait to take over so that he could promote his view of his god's wishes.

Have we just experienced 7 years of Nelsonism rather than Mormonism? And have we now entered the era of Oakism?
