Again? LDS Church Tries to Dump Saturday Night Session: This Time, They Mean It (Probably).

Dallas H. Oaks has once again declared the Saturday evening General Conference session is no more. Dallas Oaks justified the change (again), apparently, by the earth-shattering insight that the Church should focus on the four daytime sessions they've been holding all along.

General conference is waaaaay too long for the limited amount of information and substance that the leaders of the church have to convey.

Each conference contains maybe 30 minutes of relevant salient information, and the rest is just regurgitated slop.

This move makes sense, it cuts down the pointless busy work of giving talks about the same thing over and over.

For me, they could cut it down to just the couple of minutes in which they call for the sustaining of general authorities.

That way I don't need to listen to any "before" or "after" for me to report my opposition to my stake president, and ask him to be sure to transmit my opposition up the chain of command.

You're suggesting they skip the fours hours of sermons on the importance of paying your tithing?

Reducing the number of sessions reduces the number of speaker slots by 6 or 7. So I’m guessing this means even fewer female voices.
